Thinking about going back to school? Want to work for yourself one day? Consider different academic programs and trade schools that have the potential to give you what you need to open your own business.

Here are five trades that have the potential of leading you to your own business.

Barber or hairdressing school. Hairdressing, cosmetology, and barber classes are all opportunities that could easily lead to self-employment or your own business. Many salons rent out chairs or space to licensed barbers and beauticians, so that they can build their own clientele and establish themselves independently. This is a great route for those that want to increase their customer base while working autonomously.

Carpentry. Carpentry is such a versatile skill-set that it opens up many different options for those that want to go into business for themselves. Got carpentry skills? Consider a future building boats, renovating houses, or working as an inspector for a real estate company; the choice is yours.
